U12's narrow loss to Waimea

West Hobart U12 Girls again played a tough game against Waimea Heights going down 0-1.

The first half started positively with Grace and Susie combining well with many penetrating runs into the Waimea's defence on the right hand side. The game was very even when late in the second half, Grace accidentally touched the ball twice in a row when she put her hands up to her chest instinctively to protect herself. However the second incident resulted in a penalty kick which Waimea successfully converted to a goal. Annette in goals almost saved it with her right foot.

uh-oh, those hands
All charged up for the second half the girls again continually pressed forward with Jessica, Isabella and Georgina using big kicks. Ione, Awein, Tamsyn, Grace and Susie pushed the ball foward with a number of shots on goal going wide of the goals or straight to the keeper. The defence played well with Georgie in goals only touching the ball once.

The girls again combined well as a team and tried their hearts out. Remember for the next game: Keep your hands down, use the big kicks and Susie "Take the Shot!".

West Hobart U12s versus Metro

West Hobart played the game of their season in defeating Metro 1-0. Big kicks were the order of the day with the West Hobart girls constantly kicking the ball deep into their attacking half. Pressing runs by Grace, Isabella, Ione, Awein, Georgie and Susie kept Metro's defence busy.

In the first half, shots on goal were predominantly directed straight to Metro's keeper who did well not to concede a goal. In the second half Tamsin's big left foot kick found the far corner - she must have been watching the World Cup - a great goal.

The first time we played Metro
The girls were excited with the win and must be congratulated for a great effort. All girls played well. Susie took some great corners and showed big improvement with her throw-ins. The defence of Megan, Jessica, Laura, Florence, Annette and Georgina were solid in that not once did the West Hobart goalkeeper touch the ball.

Well done team!

Bye-bye
Note: We have a bye on 15th July with the next game against Waimea Heights, at Waimea Heights top ground, at 1pm on 22nd July.

West Hobart vs Taroona

Notes by Susanna
We played Taroona for the second time this season, once again at Sandown Park. Taroona beat us 1-0. Everyone on our team played well but several players stood out including Jessica in defence and Isabella and Georgina with their strong play close to goal. Awein and Susanna (that's me) were goalkeepers.

One of our players accidentally touched the ball that turned out to be Taroona's only goal (it was touched before rolling through the goal) but the referee did not see this nor award a penalty against us.

Our game this week is against Metro at Cadbury's ground, starting at 1pm. See you there.
